Glitter Ball

I love Strictly Come Dancing all the glitz and glamour. The fabulous costumes and the professional dancers are amazing. The show gets better every year and a “Brucie Bonus” I get to see Ian Waite and Vincent Simone every week!

The show has become very popular appealing to all ages and gender. My husband and I sit down together every Saturday to watch. This got me thinking do the professional dancers perform at events such as weddings or are they available to give lessons in preparation for that first dance.

The great news is that many of the professional dancers are available and welcome doing social events. Tuition is harder for them to commit to do to their busy schedules.

Personally I would love a private performance by Ian and my Husband wouldn’t mind seeing Ola, but there are some other wonderful dancers to choose from should you be wanting to add some glamour to your evening reception or wanting some dance lessons.

Karen Hardy Studios offers 3 Wedding Packages.
The Bronze Package is £90 for a 1 hour session.
The Silver Package is £229 for a 3 hour session which includes a short routine.

The Power Of September 12th

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

Obviously we love a good wedding. It’s even better when it involves a close member of your family. On September the 12th my cousin got married. The wedding was perfect and miraculously it was a glorious summers day, but was it so miraculous! ECW Weddings believes in the power of 12/9 or the weekend of 12/9.

Last year my Sister in Law got married on Friday September 12th. Weeks before the wedding roads were closed in Birmingham due to heavy flooding. 12/9 arrives and it’s a beautiful summers day.

Some people will say it’s a coincidence we have more proof. 35 years ago my Mum and Dad got married that very weekend I wasn’t there but I’ve seen the photographs, another wonderful day.

ECW Weddings are better than the weather forecast, I’ve looked into my crystal ball. If your getting married next year the date to have is 11th September (please note should you have flash floods or it snows we are not responsible!!)

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Zoe and Dan on their recent wedding and wish them every happiness for a long and happy life together.

Guest List Pressure

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Whilst reading through the July/August edition of Brides Magazine we found this, it might be of use!

Wedding Guest List Helper

Guest lists have a tendency to get out of control. There are so many people you want to invite or think you ought to invite that when you check your numbers you have a guest list of 300!

The problem is most people come from such large families or have lot of friends that you feel pressured into inviting them. Great Aunt Muriel that you’ve seen once but if you don’t invite her such and such will moan. Then there is the children debate, do you or don’t you invite?

We know from experience what a difficult decision narrowing down your guest list can be. We always recommend you draw up an “A” and “B” list. “A” for all the essential family and friends and “B” for all the other guests you’d like to invite. Failing that eeny meeny miny mo!

Summer Weddings – Pretty in Pink

Friday, July 24th, 2009

I always love to incorporate something current into a wedding, and as an avid sports fan the obvious would be to have a splash of Wimbledon or the Ashes. Pimms on arrival, strawberry’s and cream combined with champagne what could be better.

Pimms in a jug

Pimms and Lemonade with a sprig of mint, served on mirrored trays to reflect the sun and a large TV screen to watch England win the Ashes series… Heaven!

Delicious canapés

We have a running joke in our household “you love burgers you do” I think it’s called marriage banter, but I’m sure given the chance my husband would eat burgers every day, well maybe every other day, add sausages too! But he would love these canapés perfect for your guests arrival.

Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé

Rose champagne perfect for all things pink.

Cookie Favours

I love the concept of these cookies they’d look beautiful on your tables.

Strawberries And Cream Cake

I love unusual wedding cakes. I always think a cake looks it’s best when it has been designed by the Bride and Groom and not just a standard cake that has been chosen from a stand in a bakery, but something specific to the theme of your wedding. This can be a great time of year to go away from the traditional iced three or four tier cake. I love the style of this cake however my Mum doesn’t share my view “It’s not what I call a wedding cake” maybe it’s a generation thing!

Rose and Champagne Cream Chocolates

Perfect for wedding favours or just for handing round after your wedding breakfast.

Big Lollipops

It’s always a nice idea to give your smaller guests different favours, I love these big lollipops they last for days. We had some in Disneyland my husband and I had a competition to see who could finish theirs first, I won of course he couldn’t finish his and he moaned they stained his teeth!

Always Look After Your Hands and Nails

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Your big day has arrived and everyone wants to see the Bride and Grooms new rings, don’t let your hands spoil the effect “Always look after your Hands and Nails” Get into a daily routine of treating your hands and nails, 10 minutes a day it makes a huge difference. Grooms should take as much care as their wife to be, manicures and pedicures regularly especially if they have manual jobs. My Dad swears by them unfortunately he never went to a salon he used to get me to do it and use all my products!

My Husband and I got married in 2007. Becoming Man and Wife was wonderful after being Boyfriend and Girlfriend for 12 years. It was a fabulous day winter wonderland surroundings, I had plenty of time to plan the wedding as I was recovering from surgery. The build up was very smooth no worries, I was confident every detail had been covered well maybe not everything my nails! For almost 20 years I’d bitten them did it really matter, the answer of course was yes.

At my final fitting I tried on the whole outfit, it was perfect, my designer dress, jewellery especially made how I wanted it and my beautiful Diane Hassel bridal shoes teamed with chewed stubby nails, they didn’t quite match the look I was trying to create. In stepped my Nan “Stop chewing those nails you’ll ruin your wedding pictures” and what my Nan says goes! I brought every nail product conceivable, some worked others were a waste of money. I’ve always had soft hands owing to the fact that I pamper myself and I still lived at home and didn’t have to do any housework!

My toenails were perfect pedicures every fortnight saw to that now it was time to get my nails in the same condition. Fortunately my nails did grow in time I have nailtiques protein formula 2 rapid growth and strength to thank for that. Then my Mum and I went for a manicure the day before the wedding and my nails were ridiculed! The wedding came and went and so did my nails.

How can a wedding planner have chewed nails they are meant to take pride in how things look so I have decided to stop it’s been a month now the products must work as they look beautiful and haven’t broken yet, the problem is I’m bound to relapse if the Ashes series doesn’t do it Chelsea playing In the Champions League is always a nail biter!
